C10 - Orange Lady Beetle and Long-jawed Orb-weaver Spider
Introduction

Our paddy fields not only provide food to human being but also offer a habitat for many living beings to grow and seek food. Among them, orange lady beetles and long-jawed orb-weaver spiders are the natural enemies to eliminate the indicator living beings that endanger the growth of rice, including moths, rice grasshoppers, plant hoppers, and aphids. Recently, they are gradually reducing due to the excessive use of pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides. This also affects the survival of butterflies, bees, earthworms, millipedes, springtails, fireflies, and various species that link together due to food chain. The counterbalance among the living beings in the farm doesn’t exist anymore. To ensure human beings, living beings, and the environment can move towards a co-benefiting future, we shall work hard to promote and use organic and eco-friendly farming methods to avoid the deterioration of soil, biological habitat, and water quality at the water sources. Consumers can also choose the agricultural produce with “Green Conservation Label” that avoid damaging living beings due to agricultural behaviors. By doing this, we can make a contribution to the species in lower mountains and in the fields, like Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Black Kite, and Emerald Green Treefrog as well as the conservation of environmental ecology on the island.
