C4 – Kusano Willow and Cupha Erymanthis
Introduction

Development behaviors carried out by human beings will directly the survival of species. “Kusano Willow” which is an endangered endemic species in Taiwan caused by human development, solidified water and mud by the riverbank, and farmland deforestation will grow spikes on male flower buds when blossoming to create a beautiful view of golden yellow filed. Therefore, it is also called “golden willow”. Its root will hold on soil firmly and is a preferred natural tree species for riverbank and slope protection and soil and water conservation. Meanwhile, it is the vegetable food for Cupha Erymanthis in Taiwan. It attracts insects to create an ecological habitat. Shuanglianpi in Yiland and the traditional tribe of Toushe in Thao Tribe next to Sun Moon Lake, Nantou are trying hard to promote organic farming or active species restoration to make sure the endangered Kusoano willow can continue surviving. It also protects Cupha erymanthis, various insects, and birds in Taiwan to enhance the ecological diversity at the habitat.
